Bilingual Crisis Intervention Manager

Position Overview: Donna Cona is in search of a committed and empathetic Bilingual Crisis Counsellor Manager to oversee a dedicated team of crisis support professionals. This role involves providing leadership and direction to a group that delivers around-the-clock crisis intervention and assistance services. Your leadership and expertise will play a crucial role in positively impacting the lives of Indigenous individuals who reach out for support.
Qualifications Required:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field;
- Registered with a Professional Organization as a Social Worker, Counselor, or Therapist;
- At least three (3) years of experience in a Crisis Line setting;
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience addressing Indigenous Issues;
- Proven experience of three (3) years in a managerial role;
- Exceptional customer service abilities and sensitivity to manage high-stress interactions;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills;
- Capability to lead a team, collaborate effectively, and make informed decisions under pressure;
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines, legal standards, and best practices in crisis counseling;
- Fluency in both English and French (Bilingual);
- Ability to communicate in Cree, Inuktitut, Ojibway, or other Indigenous languages (preferred);
- Eligibility for security clearance at the RELIABILITY level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision: Provide effective leadership and oversight to a team of crisis counsellors, including conducting regular supervision sessions, establishing performance standards, and fostering a supportive work culture;
- Crisis Intervention Coverage: Engage in crisis counseling duties as necessary, particularly during high-demand periods, to ensure timely and effective crisis support services;
- Quality Control: Evaluate the quality of crisis counseling services delivered by the team, providing constructive feedback and implementing strategies for ongoing improvement;
- Reporting: Review and approve team documentation and develop statistical reports for clients on a monthly basis;
- Training and Development: Assess the training needs of crisis counsellors and coordinate relevant training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge;
- Ethics and Compliance: Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and legal standards in all crisis counseling practices, maintaining confidentiality;
- Performance Management: Conduct regular evaluations of crisis counsellors, offering feedback, recognizing achievements, and addressing areas for growth;
- Clinical Support: Provide clinical guidance and support to crisis counsellors in effectively managing crisis situations, ensuring adherence to best practices.
