Bilingual Crisis Intervention Team Leader

Position Overview: Donna Cona is in search of a dedicated and empathetic Bilingual Crisis Counsellor Manager to oversee a team of crisis intervention specialists. This role is crucial in ensuring that individuals in distress receive timely and effective support through our crisis lines.
Key Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field;
- Registration with a recognized Professional Organization as a Social Worker, Counselor, or Therapist;
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Crisis Line setting;
- Experience working with Indigenous communities for at least three (3) years;
- Proven experience in managing a team for a minimum of three (3) years;
- Exceptional customer service abilities and sensitivity in handling high-stress situations;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills;
- Capability to lead a team, collaborate effectively, and make informed decisions under pressure;
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines, legal standards, and best practices in crisis intervention;
- Fluency in both English and French (Bilingual);
- Ability to communicate in Indigenous languages such as Cree, Inuktitut, or Ojibway (preferred);
- Eligibility for security clearance at the RELIABILITY level.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision: Provide effective leadership and supervision to crisis counsellors, conducting regular individual and group sessions, setting performance standards, and promoting a supportive work environment;
- Crisis Counselling Participation: Engage in crisis counselling as necessary, particularly during peak times, to ensure prompt and effective intervention services;
- Quality Monitoring: Assess the quality of crisis counselling services delivered by the team, offering feedback and implementing strategies for ongoing improvement;
- Reporting Duties: Review and authorize team attendance and timesheets, and prepare statistical reports for clients on a monthly basis;
- Training and Development: Identify training needs for crisis counsellors and coordinate relevant training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge;
- Ethics and Compliance: Ensure adherence to ethical standards, legal requirements, and organizational policies in all crisis counselling practices;
- Performance Management: Conduct regular evaluations of crisis counsellors, providing constructive feedback and recognizing achievements;
- Clinical Support: Offer clinical guidance and expertise to crisis counsellors in managing and resolving crisis situations effectively.
