Health Promotion Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Health Promoter to join our Provincial Health Promotion Team within the Community Wellness Supports Portfolio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives across the lifespan. Your focus will be on preventing and reducing the harms and injuries associated with substance use, gambling, and promoting mental wellness and health equity.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in health promotion strategies and theories, healthy public policy, population health, harm reduction, and the social, structural, and commercial determinants of health. Your ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion or Health Education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 1 year of related experience is required, with a strong analytical ability to interpret data and communicate results in a meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement health promotion initiatives across the lifespan
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver programs aimed at promoting health, preventing disease, and enhancing population health outcomes
- Conduct research and analysis to inform healthy public policy changes and program development
- Provide technical assistance and support to community partners and stakeholders
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion or Health Education
- Minimum 1 year of related experience
- Strong analytical ability to interpret data and communicate results
- Knowledge of local community resources
- Experience in facilitation, project management, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite Package
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently
- Non-violent crisis intervention, Mental Health First Aid, CPR/Standard First Aid preferred
- Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
We offer a competitive salary range of $35.81 - $45.00 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
