About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health & Addictions, or designate, the Occupational Therapist plays a key role in the Mental Health & Addictions Program. This position functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, participating in the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of Mental Health & Addictions services.

The Occupational Therapist must exhibit sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Mental Health & Addictions Program and the organization's Mission, Vision, and Strategic Directions.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Mental Health & Addictions. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduate of an accredited University Program in Occupational Therapy
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association
  • Eligible for registration to practice Occupational Therapy in Nova Scotia
  • One year experience as an Occupational Therapist, with at least one year (recent) within the last five, in an inpatient/outpatient Mental Health & Addiction setting
  • Experience in developing collaborative partnerships and initiatives with other agencies and community stakeholders
  • Ability to provide effective Addiction & Mental Health/Occupational Therapy assessment
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuing continuing education to maintain or enhance professional knowledge
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other healthcare providers, and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy, and warmth
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative

Hours
  • Permanent Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$33.96 - $42.89 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
