About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health & Addictions, or designate, the Occupational Therapist will function as a member of the Mental Health & Addictions Program and the multi-disciplinary team, participating in the planning, development, provision and evaluation of Mental Health & Addictions services.

The Occupational Therapist will exhibit sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Mental Health & Addictions Program and the organization's Mission, Vision and Strategic Directions.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy, be eligible for membership in the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association, and have experience working in an inpatient/outpatient Mental Health & Addiction setting.

  • Graduate of an accredited University Program in Occupational Therapy.
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Eligible for registration to practice Occupational Therapy in Nova Scotia.
  • One year experience as an Occupational Therapist, with at least one year (recent) within the last five, in an inpatient/outpatient Mental Health & Addiction setting.
  • Experience in the development of collaborative partnerships and initiatives with other agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide effective Addiction & Mental Health/Occupational Therapy assessment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursue continuing education to maintain or enhance professional knowledge.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care providers and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
Hours
  • Permanent Full Time position; 75 Hours Bi Weekly.
Compensation and Incentives

$33.96 - $42.89 Hourly.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
