Position Overview:

The role of the Constable at Canadian National Railway (CN) is pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of our operations. This position demands responsiveness to urgent situations and adaptability to various work schedules to maintain a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forge collaborative relationships with governmental agencies and businesses that influence CN's operations
  • Assess and mitigate high-risk zones to avert potential losses
  • Conduct investigations into criminal activities and uphold railway safety regulations
  • Participate in community outreach and public speaking initiatives
  • Oversee traffic management and enforce trespassing laws
  • Deliver educational presentations on railway safety

Work Environment:

  • Regular travel across extensive geographical areas
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized law enforcement training program or equivalent experience
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is mandatory
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Must reside within a specified distance from the operational area
  • Demonstrated teamwork and effective communication abilities
  • Exhibit sound judgment, independence, and proactive initiative
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential

Training Program:

New recruits will receive comprehensive on-the-job training alongside a Coach Officer or participate in a structured program at the Ontario Police College if prior certification is not available.
