Railway Safety Officer

Position Overview:
The Railway Safety Officer at Canadian National Railway is responsible for being the main liaison for all security and policing issues. This role necessitates prompt responses to urgent situations and the ability to work flexible hours to maintain the safety of CN's operations consistently.
Key Duties:
- Develop collaborations with various governmental agencies and enterprises that influence CN
- Assess and mitigate high-risk zones to avert potential losses
- Conduct investigations into criminal activities and uphold railway safety regulations
- Participate in community outreach and public speaking initiatives
- Oversee traffic management and enforce trespassing laws
- Deliver presentations for operation lifesaver programs
Work Environment:
- Regular travel across a broad geographical area
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized law enforcement training program or equivalent
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Must reside within a 50 km radius of the operational area
- Strong collaborative and communication abilities
- Demonstrated sound judgment, independence, and initiative
- Proficiency in both English and French
Training Program:
New employees will receive on-the-job training with a designated Coach Officer or participate in a three-month training course at the Ontario Police College if they lack prior certification.
