Job Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and close-out of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading project teams for coordination, reporting, and ongoing communication with clients, sponsors, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Achieving program objectives as defined in the design brief.
  • Directing and controlling projects to deliver within agreed-upon scope, cost, and time parameters, using a defined project management methodology.
  • Defining, monitoring, and controlling project scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk, and resources.
  • Supporting the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and leading tendering, evaluations, and contract award processes.
  • Administering, supporting, and directing design consultants and contractors in accordance with contract documents.
  • Reviewing and recommending invoices for payment of contracts administered.
  • Tracking deliverables.
  • Leading quality assurance.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress.
  • Presenting to stakeholders reports on progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Implementing and managing change when necessary to meet project outputs.
  • Evaluating and assessing project results.
  • FOLLOWING ALL GN POLICIES, STANDARDS, PROCEDURES, AND GUIDELINES.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of three years of progressively challenging project management experience on large commercial and/or institutional buildings and/or civic works.
  • Direct experience managing the development and construction of infrastructure projects.
  • Project Management certification or registration with the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be considered an asset.
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) or Architect designation of any Canadian province or territory will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and/or change management.
  • Proficiency in project management information system (PMIS) software will be considered an asset.
  • Management of infrastructure projects in Nunavut will be considered an asset.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively challenging project management experience delivering medium to large commercial, institutional, or municipal infrastructure building projects.
  • Participation in all aspects of planning, design, construction, and post-construction.
  • At least five years of experience in the role of prime consultant or Project Lead responsible for coordinating the input and delivery of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Senior managerial experience leading diverse teams.
  • Experience with public sector capital projects or public sector facility management program delivery.

  • Strong understanding of design and construction issues and legal concepts.
