Sr. Technical Artist

Electronic Arts Inc. is a global leader in interactive entertainment, driving innovation and creativity through our diverse portfolio of brands. We're seeking a highly skilled Sr. Technical Artist to join our team, contributing to the development of cutting-edge game experiences.

The Technical Art team at EA is responsible for bridging the gap between art and programming departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient workflows. As a Sr. Technical Artist, you'll be an individual contributor on a central tech art team, supporting the technical delivery of tools and art on EA SPORTS titles across a distributed production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with peers and the Tech Art Director to drive game and studio vision, providing feedback and innovation to create high-quality assets and technologies.
  2. Communicate effectively with content creators, offering support and guidance to ensure successful project outcomes.
  3. Design, implement, and maintain art creation pipelines that meet artist needs and drive productivity for content creators.
  4. Stay up-to-date with various technologies, technical concepts, and ideas, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement.
  5. Provide mentorship and support to junior technical artists on the team.
  6. Approach tasks with a focus on timeliness, organization, and meticulous attention to detail, communicating status and results to stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
  1. 6+ years of experience in a game production environment, preferably in AAA projects.
  2. Experience working with game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine).
  3. Knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages (Maya, Photoshop) and experience in scripting and programming (Python, C#).
  4. Advanced understanding of fundamental 3D concepts, including modeling, texturing, rendering, PBR shading, lighting, rigging, skinning, and deformation.
  5. Experience with shader development (HLSL, Renderman) and comfort working at scale with game engine workflows.
Portfolio:

We require a portfolio/presentation of your work with your application, including detailed breakdowns of your projects and clear explanations of your contributions. Please include examples of:

  1. Tools and pipeline work, with script and code samples.
  2. 3D graphics in areas such as modeling, animation, lighting, visual effects, and shading.
  3. Art (traditional or digital media) that you have personally created.
