Overview

The Funeral Director is responsible for providing exceptional service to families and individuals in need of funeral and cremation services. This role requires a high level of empathy, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized service to families and individuals, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Coordinate funeral and cremation services, including preparation, embalming, and casketing.
  • Manage case files, including at-need and pre-need cases, and maintain accurate records.
  • Process and maintain software systems, including vital information and death certificates.
  • Assist with embalming, dressing, cosmetizing, and casketing of the deceased.
  • Transfer deceased from place of death to funeral home and crematory.
  • Enter vital information into software systems.
  • Process files from start to finish, including filing flag forms, completing trust account forms, and ordering death certificates.
  • Provide customized service materials and release urns, service materials, personal property, and flags to families.
  • Update list of family members to contact for information.
  • Respond to emails efficiently and timely.
  • Stock and organize urns.
  • Place obituaries for families in the newspaper, social media, and website.
  • Respond and attend to inquiries as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in or have completed an accredited mortuary science program.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated and energetic.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Caring, empathetic, and committed to providing best-in-class service to customers.
  • Sensitivity and knowledge of different philosophical systems and religions.
  • Knowledge of basic principles, values, ethics, ways of thinking, customs, practices, and their impact on human culture.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a clear driving record.
