This position is tasked with interpreting and clarifying policy coverages while meticulously documenting claim files. The specialist is responsible for ensuring timely service and effective management of claims from the initial report through to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Offer guidance and support to members throughout the claims journey, ensuring exceptional service characterized by empathy and understanding. Maintain proactive and timely communication through various channels, including voice, digital, and written correspondence, addressing all inquiries in a professional manner. Adjust property claims of moderate to high complexity with diligence. Analyze and interpret policy language, assess coverage, and communicate decisions regarding coverage to members. Establish accurate loss and expense reserves throughout the claim process by evaluating relevant information from sources such as appraisers, independent adjusters, and contractors. Conduct thorough investigations on all claims to ascertain coverages and liability, adhering to Wawanesa's adjusting guidelines and knowing when to involve appropriate internal and external resources. Gather evidence to support recovery efforts. Coordinate and oversee services with vendors and service providers, including appraisers, independent adjusters, and contractors. Negotiate and communicate claim settlements within authorized limits, ensuring timely and effective communication of claim decisions while delivering an outstanding member experience. Maintain an organized and current diary system, documenting claim file activities in accordance with established protocols. Exhibit and uphold knowledge of policy coverages while complying with regional regulatory and licensing requirements (as applicable). Stay informed about legislative changes and trends within the insurance sector. Demonstrate proficient skills in reviewing repair estimates, creating narrative scopes, and generating intermediate-level estimates using estimating software. Support the CAT plan as necessary, which may include assisting with claims outside of your designated service area. Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications
Exceptional customer service abilities, showcasing empathy and a commitment to member satisfaction. 1-2 years of experience in insurance adjusting or a related field. A post-secondary degree is preferred. Actively pursuing the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and, where necessary, committed to meeting licensing requirements. Proficient in utilizing computer technology, including Microsoft Office, email, web applications, and database software, with the ability to interpret and quantify property damage estimates. Strong communication skills, encompassing listening, written, and verbal abilities. Excellent investigative and analytical capabilities. Robust problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to draw valid conclusions and communicate them effectively. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Good negotiation, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, along with a willingness to improve. Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
