Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Care Aide
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Care Aide to become part of our healthcare team. This role is vital in providing compassionate care to our clients.
As a Care Aide at Vancouver Coastal Health, your contributions will include:
Collaborating under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated professional, working alongside interdisciplinary team members to facilitate effective client care. Implementing established care protocols to deliver personal assistance; including bathing, grooming, dressing, meal support, and oral hygiene, while performing nursing-related tasks as required. Responding promptly to call signals and alarms. Monitoring and documenting clients' health status, symptoms, and behavioral changes, reporting significant findings. Utilizing mobility aids such as specialized beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers to assist clients, ensuring safe lifting and transferring techniques are followed. Upholding a clean and secure environment for both clients and staff. Carrying out additional related responsibilities as assigned.About the Community
The community where you will serve is located in a picturesque mountain valley, providing essential healthcare services to a small population. The facility includes acute care beds, residential accommodations, and an emergency department available around the clock, alongside laboratory and diagnostic imaging services.
Qualifications Required
Education & Experience
Completion of Grade 10 (including English 10). Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience. Eligibility for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.Skills & Competencies
Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Capacity to interact with others in a respectful and effective manner. Physical capability to perform the responsibilities of the position. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks efficiently. Proficiency in operating relevant equipment, such as Patient Care Information Systems.Important Information
Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
In compliance with current Public Health Orders, all employees of Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received the most recent updated vaccine. Proof of vaccination status will be necessary.
