As a Health Promoter, you will play a vital role in improving the well-being of our community by implementing evidence-based health promotion programs and initiatives. You will work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to address key public health concerns and empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of community health needs, analyzing data, research findings, and environmental factors.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive health promotion plans that align with Ontario Public Health standards and best practices.
  • Leverage your expertise in population health promotion, determinants of health, and health equity to guide program design and implementation.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Health Unit, contributing to a shared vision for community well-being.
  • Facilitate community engagement and build partnerships to mobilize resources and address local health priorities.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and best practices in health promotion by reviewing relevant resources and attending professional development opportunities.
  • Apply effective communication strategies, including social marketing principles, to promote health awareness and encourage positive behavior change.
  • Contribute to policy development and advocacy efforts that reflect the needs of our community and promote equitable access to health services.
Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a passion for public health. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A four-year university degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, or a related field.
  • One to two years of experience working in a health promotion role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications.
