We are currently seeking a Refrigeration Technician to enhance our expanding Mechanical team. Reporting directly to the Mechanical Northern Operations Manager, the ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member, embody our core values, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and initiate new HVAC systems.
- Diagnose operational issues in industrial and dew point applications, determining solutions through effective troubleshooting.
- Conduct accurate troubleshooting of electrical systems, basic controls, and unit control panels, with a foundational understanding of PLC and/or microprocessors.
- Perform mechanical inspections independently using multimeters, pressure gauges, electronic diagnostic tools, and other specialized equipment.
- Assemble and install refrigeration or A/C components, including motors, controls, gauges, valves, circulating pumps, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, and compressors using hand and power tools.
- Measure, cut, and connect piping utilizing welding and brazing techniques.
- Install, troubleshoot, and overhaul complete heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems.
- Initiate HVAC systems and conduct leak tests using appropriate testing devices.
- Recharge systems with refrigerant, check and test regulators, calibrate systems, and perform routine maintenance or servicing.
- Repair and replace components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems.
- Experience with boiler startups is considered an asset.
- Proficient in troubleshooting HVAC systems and performing building service/maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an Interprovincial Refrigeration Journeyperson ticket is required.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in servicing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and installing HVAC systems.
- HVAC/Gas fitting experience is preferred.
- Must have personal tools necessary for HVAC diagnosis and repair.
- Strong understanding of modern construction practices.
- Familiarity with construction documents.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and insurability are mandatory.
- Knowledge of construction costs and budgeting.
- A solid safety record and the ability to collaborate with diverse individuals.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
- Additional qualifications in Plumbing, Sheet Metal, or Fuel Oil Technician are advantageous.
