You are an inquisitive and resourceful individual with exceptional communication abilities and a solid background in SaaS financial modeling. Your attention to detail and enthusiasm for utilizing finance and data to tackle challenges in a rapidly expanding startup set you apart. Through thorough analysis, you uncover critical business insights and performance metrics related to SaaS and marketplace operations. You excel at narrating a company's financial story, both current and prospective, tailoring your message to various audiences, including employees, management, investors, and the Board of Directors. Your analytical mindset drives you to assist organizations in identifying opportunities and resolving issues. You are prepared to advance your career by taking on both operational and leadership roles within a growing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
PartnerStack is on the lookout for a Finance Strategy Lead with SaaS expertise to spearhead budgeting, forecasting, planning, and financial analysis in a dynamic SaaS marketplace startup. You will be accountable for developing forward-looking financial models and effectively communicating business results through detailed analysis and reporting of monthly revenue, operating expenses, and key performance indicators (KPIs). This detail-oriented individual will provide financial insights to enhance operational efficiencies, ensuring department leaders optimize their investments in growth and their contributions to top-line revenue. You will report directly to the CFO and collaborate cross-functionally with executive leaders across the organization.
The successful Finance Strategy Lead will:
- Drive business impact through data-informed financial analysis across a broad spectrum of SaaS and company performance metrics.
- Oversee a monthly reporting process that delivers essential insights to the Executive team, the Board, and investors regarding the company's financial performance, influencing key business decisions.
- Develop and lead a process that facilitates dynamic modeling of our subscription and variable transaction revenue streams, along with departmental operating budgets that instill accountability within the business and provide a reliable foundation for budgeting and cash forecasting.
- Collaborate with the Data team to conceptualize, develop, and create ongoing business metrics, reports, data visualizations, and analytical solutions that grant stakeholders access to critical business insights.
- Foster strong relationships across Accounting, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Executive teams to gather valuable insights that will enhance our product and business objectives.
- Promote operational excellence in the finance reporting process.
- Oversee the data and insights generated for the Finance section of the quarterly Board package.
- Manage monthly and quarterly reporting for investors and lenders.
- Conduct business analysis and requirements gathering to support various finance and business operations initiatives, ranging from marketplace expansion to international currency payment projects and venture capital fundraising efforts.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in SaaS financial analysis, ideally supporting sales, revenue, and departmental operating expenses in a SaaS environment.
- Extensive experience collaborating with business leaders to construct budgets, projections, and forecasts from the ground up in a SaaS startup context.
- Proven ability to create and implement a process for delivering monthly financial analysis and insights to management, the Board, and investors.
- Expertise in manipulating large datasets for business modeling and ad-hoc analysis using Google Sheets and Excel.
- Solid understanding of the B2B SaaS model and its sales dynamics.
- Ability to extract narratives from data and validate or challenge business strategies and tactics through financial analysis.
- Proficiency in Pigment (FP&A application) is a significant advantage.
- Experience in raising venture capital and/or venture debt is beneficial.
- Familiarity with marketplaces and/or payment platforms is highly desirable.
- An MBA or an Honors Bachelor of Commerce from a reputable university program.
