Role Overview: The Senior Long Term Planning Engineer will have a site-based focus, potentially supporting multiple locations within the region. Reporting to the Senior Long Term Planning Lead, this position is responsible for delivering comprehensive underground long-term mine planning work packages, with opportunities to engage in open-pit planning as well. The role encompasses various aspects of business planning, site-based studies, projects, and strategic resource development activities.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate visible leadership in promoting health, safety, security, and environmental programs.
- Collaborate with site functions to establish planning and design parameters.
- Generate timely and precise Long Term Planning work packages, including:
- Reserves and resource estimation, planning, and reporting.
- Strategic mine plans and scenario options supporting business objectives.
- Documentation for the multi-year Life of Asset plan in collaboration with mine planning teams.
- Design and scheduling of long-term supporting facilities.
- Infrastructure planning for the entire asset lifecycle.
- Assistance with reclamation and closure strategies.
- Conduct economic evaluations on mid to long-term development layouts.
- Implement standard procedures and best practices for Long Term Mine Planning, prioritizing safety in design.
- Support the integration of business plans across various timeframes.
- Engage with geology, geotechnical engineers, and mine operations.
- Contribute to site projects and strategic initiatives as required.
- Assist in the development and analysis of unit costs.
- Build and maintain trust with key stakeholders.
- Utilize experience in underground mining to enhance planning deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent; P.Eng. qualification preferred.
- Experience in diverse mine planning horizons, particularly in hard rock operations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent facilitation and presentation abilities.
- Proficient in mine planning software, including Deswik.
- Knowledge of unit costing methods and financial analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and visualization skills.
- Position based at Porcupine Gold Mines.
- 4 days on, 3 days off schedule.
- Requires access to mining and processing areas.
- Frequent computer use.
- Awareness of cultural differences within operations.
