Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Autism Tutor to join our team at St.Amant. As an Autism Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) intervention to assigned children under the direction of the Autism Consultant and Senior Tutor.
  • Attend team meetings and workshops to stay up-to-date on best practices and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Collect and analyze data on children's progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure seamless coordination of services and maintain a high level of quality care.
  • Communicate effectively with children's families, keeping them informed of their child's progress, care, and well-being.
  • Support children in participating in daily activities, self-care, and personal care as needed.
  • Understand and adhere to St.Amant's policies and procedures, as well as those of the Autism Programs.
  • Report and document high-risk situations according to St.Amant and Autism Programs policy.
  • Develop and implement individualized programs and teaching strategies to promote children's skills and independence.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Minimum education of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to working within a team.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities or ASD.
  • Post-secondary coursework in behavior modification/applied behavior analysis (ABA).
  • Previous work experience in a supervised ABA program.
  • Knowledge of philosophies and practices in education, care, and support services for individuals with disabilities.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check. New hires must also complete a series of Occupational Health checks, including confirmation of immunization or immunity to specific communicable diseases. Successful applicants will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
