About the Position
We are seeking a qualified individual to join our expanding team.
Work Environment: Remote work options available (specific regions may be prioritized).
As a member of our Property Large Loss team, you will be responsible for managing substantial and intricate commercial property claims across various distribution channels. The claims you handle may encompass Commercial Property, Energy, Equipment Breakdown, and other Specialty Claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, investigate, analyze, negotiate, and resolve significant and complex commercial property claims typically exceeding $1M or involving specialized types of loss.
- Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers, and engineers to confirm coverage, establish liability, and evaluate damages.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims management while supporting long-term succession planning.
- Educate colleagues on handling complex claims.
- Partner with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, sharing insights and lessons learned.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to brokers, clients, and team members.
- Achieve all key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management.
- Utilize your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to promote best practice operations.
- Negotiate claims effectively when appropriate.
- Participate in settlement conferences and trials.
Qualifications:
- Strong critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity when addressing complex issues in time-sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication abilities to foster positive business relationships and provide clear guidance to clients.
- Proficient problem-solving skills to gather information, assess situations, and negotiate effective solutions.
- Adaptable to changing needs, demonstrating flexibility and agility.
- Strong organizational skills to develop effective strategies.
- A collaborative spirit with a passion for mentoring and coaching others.
- 10+ years of experience in managing large and complex commercial property claims.
- Thorough knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the role.
- Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (preferred).
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Valid driver's license.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
