We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Clinical Science Liaison (CSL) to become a member of our Medical Affairs team. In this dynamic role, you will cultivate and enhance relationships while advancing our scientific reputation with both established and emerging external experts (EEs). Our CSLs address inquiries by providing essential scientific and medical information to external experts and internal stakeholders. This position will encompass the regions of BC and Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and sustain key scientific knowledge that facilitates credible communication of information to external experts (EEs) and other healthcare professionals (HCPs), fostering the development of professional relationships.
  • Engage in and monitor assigned investigator-initiated studies (IIS), clinical trials, and medical initiatives within the relevant therapeutic area (TA).
  • Offer scientific support and maintain relationships with external experts and academic institutions.
  • Deliver credible presentations on scientific topics to HCPs, both individually and in group settings.
  • Participate in the selection process to identify qualified HCPs with whom AbbVie would like to collaborate on research or provide support for lectures/meetings (advisory boards, congresses, symposiums, etc.); ensuring a high level of scientific or educational integrity in these collaborative efforts.
  • Attend pertinent scientific meetings and conferences, developing summaries of key data presented.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

  • Doctorate, MD, or MSc degree in a scientific discipline with demonstrated experience.
  • Relevant industry experience with a solid understanding of the biotech/pharmaceutical sector.
  • Prior experience as a CSL is preferred, along with experience in a customer-facing role within the healthcare industry. Familiarity with the presentation and/or interpretation of scientific or clinical research publications is essential.
  • Understanding of scientific methodologies applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area/product and medical research overall.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Competence with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Comfort with technology and the use of various tools/systems for daily tasks.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license and passport are required.

Key In-Field Team (IFT) Competencies:

  • Ability to comprehend the unmet needs of key stakeholders, make impactful decisions, and integrate that information into the IFT's engagement strategy.
  • Capacity to coordinate scientific and medical engagement efforts across stakeholders within a single account, developing interaction plans aligned with the Scientific Interaction Plan (SIP) to achieve medical objectives.
  • In-depth understanding and execution of effective strategies and data-driven business decisions to surpass IFT business goals.
  • Proficiently communicate, collaborate, and incorporate the perspectives of other in-field team members to optimize business objectives.
