Job Overview

The Music Lesson Centre Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Music Lesson Centre at Long & McQuade. This includes managing and administering all aspects of the centre, working closely with the Director of Music Education to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, and provide orientation for suitable music instructors
  • Coordinate instructor schedules and room schedules to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Promote and market the Music Lesson Centre to attract new students and instructors
  • Register students, enforce attendance and payment policies, and maintain accurate records
  • Confirm and administer instructor payments, and manage overdue or delinquent customer accounts
  • Train and supervise lesson staff to ensure high-quality instruction
  • Develop and coordinate group programs and classes to meet the needs of students
  • Schedule and plan bi-annual student recitals to showcase student progress
  • Evaluate instructors for job effectiveness and recommend rate increases
  • Liaise with store staff to promote and market Long & McQuade products and services
  • Maintain studios and studio equipment to ensure a professional learning environment
  • Regularly review centre revenue and growth projections to inform business decisions

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of instrumental music studies in school or through private lessons
  • Strong knowledge of music education principles and practices
  • Ability to work weekdays, weeknights, and weekends as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven sales and customer service skills
  • Basic office administration and customer account management skills
  • Ability to manage people and prioritize tasks effectively
