As a Resource Conservation Manager III (PM06), your responsibilities will include developing and implementing programs that align with the Agency's vision and mandate for the protection, conservation, and public education at Sirmilik National Park and Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area.
You will oversee the creation, execution, and integration of ecosystem-based management initiatives for these locations. This encompasses supervising Ecological Integrity and Ecological Sustainability monitoring, applied science, and active management efforts.Furthermore, you will assist in the execution of cross-functional risk management and incident response strategies for public safety and the management of on-site operations.
Parks Canada Agency is a federal entity dedicated to safeguarding and showcasing Canada's natural and cultural resources through a network of national parks, national marine conservation areas, and national historic sites across all regions of Canada.
In Nunavut, Inuit and Parks Canada collaboratively manage five national parks, one national historic site, and one national marine conservation area.
Long before these areas were federally protected, Inuit inhabited, harvested, and traversed these lands and waters. Many staff members maintain connections to these places through their families and ancestors. To this day, harvesting and use by Inuit remains a protected right under the Nunavut Agreement.
As a member of the Parks Canada team in Nunavut, you will contribute to the protection, presentation, and sharing of these remarkable places, ensuring their preservation for future generations by implementing the Nunavut Agreement and Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreements.

PM-06 Resource Conservation Manager:
To fill 1 (anticipatory) full-time indeterminate position.
This process may also be utilized to create a list of qualified candidates for similar roles with various tenures, including indeterminate, acting, assignment, and specified period, full-time or part-time, with different security levels or language requirements in the same or other regions of Nunavut and Canada.
Qualifications include a degree from a recognized university in natural resource management or natural sciences, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Proven experience in staff management, budget oversight, and strategic work planning;
Experience in providing strategic guidance to senior management and/or partner organizations;
Proficiency in English is essential.

Ability to manage, develop, and inspire teams of professional and technical staff
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, tailored to various audiences, along with the capacity to provide strategic advice to senior managers and cooperative management partners.
KNOWLEDGE (ASSET)
~ Willingness and ability to undertake long-distance hikes, including multi-day excursions.
Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote field camp environment with a small team for extended periods (up to approximately 3 months).
Willingness to complete training provided by Parks Canada.
Willingness to fly in and work closely with both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
Willingness to work irregular hours, including overtime, weekends, and/or statutory holidays, as required.
Willingness to obtain certification in the operation of various forms of ground (e.g., all-terrain vehicles) and water (motorized and non-motorized vessels) transportation as needed.
Reliability Status security clearance -
