Overview:

2K is seeking a Technical Designer to collaborate with our distributed design team and address complex technical challenges. This position will require close cooperation with engineering and game design teams to ensure a cohesive approach. Our ideal Technical Designer is adaptable and able to balance the vision of an innovative game with the practical realities of performance and memory limitations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison for various Editor features, facilitating communication across multiple teams and departments, including Core Technology, Design, and Narrative.
  • Support designers in the integration of gameplay content, ensuring optimal playability and performance.
  • Work alongside the engineering team to maintain compliance with budgetary and technical constraints.
  • Create and uphold technical design documentation to effectively share information with team members and other departments.
  • Promote and enforce best practices and guidelines within the development engine.
  • Prototype game content to clarify tool requirements and evaluate existing tools.
  • Identify production needs and assist in developing tools to enhance overall production efficiency.
  • Manage pipelines and tools that support design authoring.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Unreal Engine, including Blueprint scripting.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Technical Designer in AAA game development is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify, assess, and resolve technical issues in game production.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational abilities.
  • A positive mindset, eagerness to learn, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Experience with shipped projects using Unreal or similar engines is advantageous.
  • A background in Engineering and/or Design is beneficial.
