Healthcare Nutrition Expert

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team in providing high-quality nutrition services to our patients. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities. You will advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors, and provide leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and families
- Develop and implement nutrition care plans
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
- Precept and mentor dietetic students
About You:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Dietitian who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will have a strong background in nutrition and dietetics, and be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists. A minimum of one year of experience as a Dietitian is preferred, and inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized university
- Dietetic Internship Program required
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists required
- Minimum one year working experience as a Dietitian preferred
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Experience counseling patients
- Current WHMIS an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team
- Competencies in other languages an asset
Working Conditions:
This is a permanent-part time position, 20% FTE, 15 hours biweekly. Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Incentives:
$43.43 hourly
