Dietitian - Nutrition & Food Services Specialist

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our Nutrition and Food Services team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert nutrition advice and care to patients, families, and communities.
As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, including the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process.
You will participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students. Your expertise will be employed to ensure evidence-informed practice, and you will contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, and ensuring quality and continuity of care.
We are looking for a Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University, a Dietetic Internship Program, and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists. A minimum of one year of working experience as a Dietitian is preferred, with inpatient clinical nutrition experience being an asset.
Key qualifications include competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition, experience counselling patients, and proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure, and participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills are also essential.
A skills test may be required as part of the selection process.
Hours- Permanent-Part time, 20% FTE, 15 hours biweekly
- Hours may include days, evenings, weekends & holidays
$43.43 Hourly
