About the Opportunity

This is a unique chance to contribute to the nutritional health of patients across all health sectors. As a Dietitian, you will provide expert advice on diet and food, using evidence-informed approaches to practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership in team efforts to support patient nutrition, including the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process.

You will participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students. As a member of the Nutrition and Food services team, you will contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University
  • Dietetic Internship Program required
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists required
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience is an asset
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience counselling patients
  • Current WHMIS an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
Hours
  • Casual Relief / 3% FTE
  • Shiftwork / Call / Rotation / etc.
Compensation and Benefits

$43.43 Hourly

11% in lieu of benefits and vacation
