About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Method Engineer to join our team at Bouygues UK. As a key member of our Methods Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in developing optimized construction solutions for major infrastructure projects in transport and energy.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Pre-Construction Design and Methods Development: Assist in the development of construction sequencing and methodology, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  2. Temporary Works Integration: Apply sound engineering principles to integrate temporary and permanent works designs, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  3. Logistics Strategies: Create and implement logistics plans to support construction methods, optimizing resource allocation and reducing costs.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse group of specialists on multiple projects, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  5. Cost and Carbon Estimates: Develop estimates for both cost and carbon impacts of the works, ensuring that projects are delivered sustainably and efficiently.
  6. Modern Methods of Construction: Champion the use of modern construction techniques to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
  7. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the project, ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of potential hazards and mitigation strategies.
  8. Training and Development: Contribute to the training of the Methods Engineering Team and broader business units, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  9. Digital Tools Implementation: Utilize BIM and other digital tools for improved pre-construction and delivery processes, enhancing collaboration and reducing errors.
What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in construction methodologies and project planning. The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Experience in complex project environments at the Site Engineer / Section Engineer level.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies and project planning.
  3. Familiarity with industry-standard safe systems of work.
  4. Comfortable working with digital models and modern construction methods.
  5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
Desirable:

We are also looking for candidates with:

  1. Previous tunnel construction experience.
  2. Progress toward professional accreditation in Civil Engineering.
  3. Ability to work across multiple projects and challenge conventional approaches to construction.
