Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Hydrovac Operator to be based in our Ft. McMurray location. This role is integral to our Underground Utilities division, focusing on the safe identification of hazards and preparation for underground service operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a Swamper to expose underground utilities, manage spills on-site, and ensure the safe disposal of hazardous materials.
- Navigate active job sites while coordinating with workers and equipment in confined spaces.
- Communicate effectively with Foremen to outline timelines and job requirements.
- Travel to various locations throughout the workday to provide necessary services.
- Train and mentor Swamper on the safe operation of Hydrovac equipment.
- Adhere to Ground Disturbance procedures.
- Uphold the principles of the company's Code of Ethics in all situations.
- Perform additional labor and operational duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
- 3-5 years of Hydrovac experience.
- Strong understanding of utility excavation.
- Knowledge of ground disturbance hazards.
Working Conditions:
The position requires a weather-dependent schedule from Monday to Saturday, with shifts lasting up to 12 hours. Overtime is compensated according to local employment standards. Out-of-town travel may be necessary, with accommodations and a Live Out Allowance provided when applicable. Work is primarily outdoors, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs regularly and must use Personal Protection Equipment as required. Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is mandatory.
