Job Title: Senior Investment Risk Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Investment Risk Manager to join our Private Asset Advisory team at Ontario Teachers'. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing deal risks, monitoring portfolios, and providing guidance at a fund level. Your expertise will be essential in building relationships across all private portfolios within the fund.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate qualitative risks of private investments and provide recommendations for mitigation
  • Guide investment teams on policy, governance, and risk modeling to ensure alignment with our investment strategy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners while maintaining an independent risk assessment
  • Work closely with deal teams to understand risks and prepare for meetings with stakeholders
  • Assist in developing monitoring and modeling frameworks for private portfolios to ensure accurate risk assessment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support benchmark recommendations and organizational strategy
  • Prepare and present analysis to the Investment Committee and Board of Directors to inform investment decisions
  • Support the mentorship of junior team members to ensure knowledge transfer and succession planning

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or related field
  • Certification such as CFA, CBV, CA, or CAIA is a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or related areas, with a focus on risk management and investment analysis
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, valuation, and capital structuring
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Excel and macro use is advantageous
  • Knowledge of international real estate markets is beneficial
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
