Role Overview

This pivotal position within the Operations Team involves acting as a Supplier Quality Engineer, tasked with ensuring that all products received from suppliers, as well as packaging and operational processes, adhere to manufacturing specifications and company standards. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities aimed at achieving and sustaining high supplier quality levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhancing supplier quality performance, including new product development and quality improvements;
  • Identifying and managing all supplier non-conformances, supporting investigations for timely resolution;
  • Overseeing the supplier quality function and setting quality control objectives;
  • Fostering a culture centered on safety;
  • Conducting quality system audits;
  • Maintaining comprehensive supplier quality records;
  • Building and nurturing relationships with suppliers;
  • Advocating for initiatives aimed at quality enhancement;
  • Assisting the Supply Chain in evaluating new or existing suppliers from a quality perspective, including issue resolution and risk assessments;
  • Reviewing supplier documentation to ensure compliance with Socomec's requirements;
  • Collaborating with design engineers to capture product requirements and implement preventive and corrective measures;
  • Contributing to the reduction of manufacturing errors;
  • Engaging in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities, ensuring compliance with requirements through document reviews and cross-functional team participation;
  • This role demands a hands-on approach complemented by a strategic mindset;
  • Adhering to all company policies, particularly health and safety protocols.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field;
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting with integrated power and power conversion products;
  • Experience in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom product manufacturing;
  • Proficiency in selecting suppliers and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards;
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other problem-solving methodologies;
  • Familiarity with ISO9001/ISO14001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems;
  • A commitment to mitigating the environmental impacts of manufacturing processes;
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality inspection activities and relevant tools;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying ideas clearly;
  • Resourceful, innovative, and energetic;
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Robust problem-solving and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is primarily office-based, with regular visits to the manufacturing site;
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required;
  • Willingness to travel internationally, with a valid passport necessary for travel.
