About this RoleThis key position within the Operations Team will serve as a Supplier Quality Engineer, responsible for ensuring that all products delivered from suppliers, packaging, and operational processes meet manufacturing specifications and company standards. This role requires a wide range of skills to achieve and maintain high levels of supplier quality.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:- Drive supplier quality performance, including new product development and quality improvement;
- Identify and control supplier non-conformances, supporting investigations for timely closure and effectiveness;
- Oversee the supplier quality function, establishing quality control objectives;
- Promote a safety-first culture;
- Perform quality system audits;
- Maintain supplier quality records;
- Maintain relationships with suppliers;
- Promote quality improvement initiatives;
- Support Supply Chain in evaluating new or existing suppliers, or items from a quality standpoint, including issue resolution, surveys, risk assessments, and capacity evaluations;
- Review supplier documentation, such as certifications and end-item data packages, to ensure compliance with Powersmiths requirements;
- Collaborate with design engineers to capture product requirements and implement preventive and corrective measures;
- Assist in reducing manufacturing errors;
- Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities, reviewing documents, drawings, and instructions to ensure conformance to requirements, and participating in cross-functional team meetings;
- This role requires a hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset;
- Adhere to all company policies, including health and safety protocols.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field;
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment with integrated power and power conversion products in various stages of prototyping, commercialization, and production;
- Experience working in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom product manufacturing;
- Experience in selecting suppliers and ensuring they meet all regulatory and company requirements;
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other problem-solving techniques;
- Experience with ISO 9001/ISO 14001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems;
- An appreciation and passion for mitigating the environmental impacts of manufacturing (products, processes, packaging, recycling, energy conservation, etc.);
- Demonstrated proficiency with quality inspection activities and the use of appropriate tools;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present ideas clearly to all levels;
- Resourceful, innovative, and energetic;
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills;
- Highly developed attention to detail;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Strong organizational skills.
- This role is in an office environment, with regular visits to the manufacturing environment;
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship;
- Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
