About the Role

This is a key position within the Operations Team that will serve as a Supplier Quality Engineer, responsible for ensuring that all products delivered from a supplier, packaging and other operational processes are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and company standards.

This is a wide-ranging role to achieve and maintain high levels of supplier quality.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Driving Supplier Quality Performance: Ensure that all suppliers meet the required quality standards, including new product development and product quality improvement.
  • Supplier Non-Conformance Management: Identify and control all supplier non-conformances, and support their investigation to ensure timely closure and effectiveness.
  • Quality Control Objectives: Oversee the supplier quality function and establish quality control objectives to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote and enhance a safety-first culture within the organization.
  • Quality System Audits: Perform quality system audits to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supplier Quality Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier quality records.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure their quality performance meets company standards.
  • Quality Initiatives: Promote and enhance quality initiatives to improve supplier quality performance.
  • Supply Chain Evaluation: Provide support to Supply Chain in the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, or items from a quality standpoint, including issue resolution, surveys, risk assessments, and evaluation of capacities and capabilities.
  • Supplier Documentation Review: Review supplier documentation, such as certifications, end item data packages, etc. to ensure compliance to company requirements.
  • Product Requirements Capture: Work with design engineers to capture product requirements and ensure appropriate preventive and corrective measures are put into place.
  • Manufacturing Error Reduction: Assist in reducing the occurrence of manufacturing errors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities, reviewing documents, drawings, and instructions to ensure conformance to requirements, and participating in cross-functional team meetings.
  • Strategic Mindset: This position requires a hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset.
  • Company Policies: Adhere to all company policies, including health and safety protocols.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment with integrated power and power conversion products in various stages of prototyping, commercialization, and production.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Experience working in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom product manufacturing.
  • Supplier Selection: Experience in selecting suppliers and ensuring the suppliers meet all regulatory and company requirements.
  • Certifications: Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other problem-solving techniques.
  • ISO9001/ISO14001: Experience with ISO9001/ISO14001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
  • Environmental Awareness: An appreciation and passion for mitigating the environmental impacts of manufacturing (products, processes, packaging, recycling, energy conservation, etc).
  • Quality Inspection: Demonstrated proficiency with quality inspection activities, and the use of appropriate tools.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present ideas clearly to all levels.
  • Collaboration Skills: Resourceful, innovative, and energetic; strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly developed attention to detail.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Office Environment: This role is in an office environment, with regular visits to the manufacturing environment.
  • Travel Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship; ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
