Position Overview: The salary range for this role is CAD $52 to CAD $75. Reporting to the Program Director for program-related matters and the Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing for professional concerns, the Clinical Nurse Specialist delivers expert nursing care to patients, residents, and their families, while serving as a clinical leader in a specific specialty across various programs.

Collaboration and Consultation: Engages in consultation and collaboration with Clinical Group/Service Leaders, fellow nurses, and other healthcare professionals to enhance and advance nursing practices and patient outcomes within the specialty area and throughout Providence Health Care.

Qualifications: A Master's degree in Nursing is required, along with five years of nursing experience, including three years of recent, relevant clinical experience in a specialty area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive holistic assessments of patients and families, plan, implement, and evaluate care for complex situations, and guide interdisciplinary team members in care planning.
  • Serve as a role model for expert nursing practice.
  • Assist in developing the professional and leadership skills of nursing staff.
  • Present clinical and research work in a scholarly manner.
  • Promote excellence in nursing practice through activities such as providing expert care, evaluating nursing practices, and facilitating clinical learning for nurses.
  • Influence nursing practices by advocating for patient care improvements.
  • Collaborate with various healthcare disciplines to create effective patient care programs.
  • Coordinate care for selected patients as a case manager.
  • Support interdisciplinary team members in clinical decision-making and care planning.
  • Participate in the development of patient care programs as necessary.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of practice standards within the specialty area.
  • Evaluate patient care outcomes, identify at-risk populations, and propose solutions through evidence-based innovations.
  • Develop programs to assist nursing staff in meeting performance expectations and professional standards.
  • Engage in nursing education for basic and graduate students.
  • Support nursing research to foster clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice.
  • Identify research opportunities and manage research projects, including proposal writing and budget development.
  • Participate in nursing, agency-wide, and community committees.
  • Facilitate the design and evaluation of educational programs for nurses.
  • Contribute to establishing goals and standards of nursing practice throughout the organization.
  • Provide professional expertise to external healthcare professionals regarding nursing practices.
