POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for identifying, developing, and leading the execution of high-impact projects and strategies that align with ScotiaMcLeod's long-term objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives for ScotiaMcLeod, engaging directly with key stakeholders across all Scotia Wealth Management divisions.
  • Conduct market research, competitive assessments, and internal evaluations to uncover growth and enhancement opportunities.
  • Manage assigned projects comprehensively, including scope, budget, risk, resources, planning, and communication with internal and external parties. Ensure that initiatives are executed accurately, punctually, and within budget.
  • Assist the ScotiaMcLeod leadership team in planning, executing, and monitoring internal cross-functional programs and processes.
  • Proactively identify initiatives and procedures that enhance the efficient and effective operation of the business.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with relevant parties to ensure that projects and initiatives remain on schedule. Maintain an active list of initiatives, assign responsible stakeholders, and establish timelines for implementation.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies related to assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Engage actively in identifying opportunities for improvement and process efficiencies to enhance overall effectiveness while consulting with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should inform daily activities and decision-making.
  • Create an environment where the team pursues effective and efficient operations in line with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
  • Foster a high-performance culture and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members by promoting an inclusive work environment and employing a coaching mindset; communicate vision, values, and business strategy; and manage succession and development planning for the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy or consulting within the wealth management, banking, or financial services sectors is preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving abilities combined with exceptional business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a strong desire to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with stakeholders from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other teams and senior executives.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership capabilities in building strategic relationships and maintaining customer focus.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
