About the Role

GATX is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Manager to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering organizational HR initiatives that support our business objectives and strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Labor and Employee Relations:
    • Develop and maintain positive employee relations by promoting a fair and equitable work environment.
    • Investigate and resolve employee complaints and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
    • Provide guidance and support to management on labor-related matters, including collective bargaining agreements and plant rules.
    • Administer company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial laws.
  • Talent and Performance Management/Organizational Development:
    • Develop and implement programs to ensure the professional development of employees across the organization.
    • Manage the hiring process, including creating job postings, reviewing resumes and applications, and coordinating interviews.
    • Partner with management to develop and implement performance management strategies, including goal setting and feedback.
    • Provide coaching and development opportunities to employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee all aspects of employee administration, including counseling, insurance and pension coordination, recruiting and hiring, and employee assistance programs.
    • Manage and track completion of new hire performance reviews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, or Human Resources, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of Human Resources generalist experience, preferably in a unionized facility.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and applicant tracking systems.
  • HR certification a plus.
