RENAPS seeks a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to join our growing team.

In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of our critical database systems. You will be responsible for implementing best practices, managing complex environments, and collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities:
  • Enhance and maintain database security baselines, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Operate within the established project management framework for IT Production North America.
  • Facilitate cross-training among Database team members, establishing a daily and weekly rotation schedule for responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with application and business clients to gather requirements, design, and deploy standardized systems that clearly differentiate between production, development, user acceptance testing (UAT), and disaster recovery (DR) environments.
  • Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development team and business stakeholders to implement corrective measures and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure all systems are backed up and monitored according to business requirements, promptly notifying data owners in case of failures.
  • Guarantee optimal resilience of deployed systems, meeting all disaster recovery and compliance requirements defined by the business.
  • Collaborate with UNIX/Storage/Network Engineers to troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise and business knowledge through proactive self-learning and participation in formal training programs provided by RENAPS.
  • Engage with external vendors to resolve complex, cross-platform issues.
  • Provide comprehensive cross-training for engineers and support personnel on front-line database client troubleshooting and support.
Requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of Oracle database concepts, development, and administration with five years or more experience as an Oracle DBA in a production environment.
  • Oracle Development and/or Application DBA experience, strong SQL, T-SQL, RDMS knowledge. A well-rounded system DBA and application DBA skillset is essential.
  • Expertise in Oracle ASM, RAC, CRS, RMAN, Dataguard, and replication administration and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, recovery, database optimization, and administration within large and mission-critical enterprise environments (50+ managed servers).
  • Strong Unix and Windows experience (sysadmin/power-user level required), programming & shell scripting skills, Perl.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Seven years or more of Oracle experience is required.
  • Experience within the financial industry is mandatory.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with users at all levels within the organization and possess excellent end-user support skills.
  • Must be highly organized, responsible, capable of working as a technical lead within a project management framework, demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and excel at multitasking in a dynamic trading environment.
  • Ability to provide 7 x 24-hour support on a rotational basis, utilizing a pager and/or Blackberry device.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
