Your Responsibilities

The Software and Platform Solutions Team is in search of an innovative and highly skilled Principal Architect with extensive expertise in both Software Architecture and Software Engineering Practices. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our software solutions.

Reporting to the Director of Software and Platform Solutions, your primary responsibility will be to establish, lead, and enhance the Software Architecture and Engineering practices.

This position involves collaborating with a team of architects focused on best practices and delivering actionable architecture for internal development teams. A significant aspect of this role is related to research and development, leading to measurable business outcomes through improved efficiency and automation.

As part of the Architecture and Strategic Development Department, you will make a significant impact by facilitating the adoption of new Development Tools, Technologies, and defining and implementing Platform Architectures.

Key Contributions

As the Principal Architect, you will:

  • Engage in the formulation and execution of Cloud strategies that promote technological advancement and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to the establishment of Cloud Governance and Architectural guidelines for our software and platforms.
  • Define standardized software engineering technology stacks and toolchains.
  • Develop proof of concept prototypes to outline high-level and detailed architectural solutions and assist in their implementation.
  • Evaluate new technologies and methodologies as assigned in a dynamic agile delivery environment.
  • Mentor and guide DevOps specialists, Application Solution Architects, and Developers, including reviewing solution architecture for both on-premises and cloud solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior developers for complex technical challenges related to coding and design.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our applications' architecture.
  • Integrate "Secure by Design" principles, practices, and tools into the software development lifecycle.
  • Advocate for and support the adoption of Infrastructure as Code practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in application development and coding with progressively senior roles.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in application architecture and design.
  • Proven familiarity with software architecture design patterns and their practical application.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google) hosted deployments supporting Continuous Integration and Delivery for Application Development.
  • Strong experience in provisioning, operating, and managing Azure and AWS environments (Certification is a significant asset).
  • Proficient in programming or scripting languages (.Net, Python, PowerShell, PowerCLI, JavaScript, Terraform).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and system administration, including Linux, UNIX, and Windows systems, as well as virtualization technologies (VMWare).
  • In-depth understanding of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Ansible, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure configurations, network protocols, security, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment (SCRUM certification is an asset).
