About the Role

At Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc., we are seeking a skilled Pipelayer to join our Underground Division. As a Pipelayer, you will play a crucial role in assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measuring and configuring pipe routes to ensure efficient installation.
  • Laying pipe to design grade and ensuring proper tamping of pipe to prevent damage.
  • Gathering material and installation tools to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Locating installed piping systems using magnetic or radio indicators to identify potential issues.
  • Removing old or broken piping systems to make way for new installations.
  • Laying pipes into trenches and applying pipe spacers to prevent damage.
  • Checking pipe alignment and sealing pipes with cement glue to ensure a watertight seal.
  • Installing auxiliary lines to support the piping system.
  • Sealing exposed pipe joints and fittings to prevent leaks.
  • Filling and sealing pipe trenches to prevent erosion.
Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a Pipelayer or in a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience as either a Pipelayer or skilled Labourer in a utility installation setting.
  • Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains to ensure efficient installation.
  • Possess a minimum valid Class 5 driver's license with reliable vehicle to facilitate transportation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and city maps to understand project requirements.
  • Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects frequently to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Able to complete tasks with minimal supervision to work independently.
