About the Role

First National Financial is seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Analyst, Residential Underwriting to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for rendering credit decisions on incoming applications within your authorized limits and adhering to company and insurer policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the company
  • Maintain positive relationships with external partners such as mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors
  • Adjudicate mortgage applications within established authority limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines
  • Interact with Mortgage Insurers where applicable to complete credit lending decisions
  • Ensure due diligence has been completed prior to signing off on any mortgage conditions or documents, where applicable
  • Prepare and issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions within established service level agreements/turnaround times
  • Prioritize applications and workflow to ensure consistent and sound risk assessments are maintained while managing high volumes and a continued focus on service excellence
  • Stay current with latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends
Requirements
  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 2 years previous mortgage underwriting experience required
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Positive team player with desire and ability to mentor others
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Bilingualism (French, English) required - interactions with English-speaking customers or partners
