Join the Nursing Team at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist to become a vital part of our team. This position focuses on providing exceptional care to residents in a Long Term Care environment.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse/Clinical Nurse Specialist in Long Term Care, your responsibilities will include:
Utilizing sound judgment and critical thinking skills to deliver high-quality care to predominantly elderly residents, both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrating expertise and leadership in nursing practices while coordinating clinical interventions and evaluating resident outcomes based on individualized care goals. Serving as a resource for the interdisciplinary team by offering information and facilitating ongoing resident care. Supporting the efforts of Care Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses, fostering teamwork to ensure resident-centered care. Enhancing the quality of life for residents and their families. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. Committing to maintaining and advancing your clinical competencies. Participating in designated committees and approved research initiatives as assigned.Relocation Assistance may be available. Additionally, nurses may qualify for Provincial and Federal student loan forgiveness programs.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of an approved gerontology course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Skills & Abilities
Proven ability in nursing practice related to residents with chronic health conditions. In-depth knowledge of common medical conditions, aging processes, and treatment protocols relevant to the care of elderly residents. Competence in conducting nursing assessments and interventions tailored to specific care situations. Ability to recognize and adapt care for frail elderly and physically impaired residents. Proficiency in End of Life care approaches and facilitating discussions on goals of care. Expertise in Chronic Disease Management, anticipating and addressing potential complications. Skillful in the use of medical equipment and technology relevant to resident care. Experience in developing and implementing care plans aligned with resident and family priorities. Competence in managing acute and chronic pain, including for residents with cognitive impairments. Knowledgeable in safe care practices for various medical treatments and procedures. Demonstrated ability to perform nursing duties within the scope of practice and standards of care.Closing Statement
