Job Title: Education Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Education Support Specialist to join our team at School District #44 (North Vancouver). As an Education Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with unique and significant physical, mental, behavioral, emotional, or learning style differences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including those with physical, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Assist students with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and Individual Care Plans to ensure students receive targeted support.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to develop and implement effective support strategies.
  • Monitor and adapt to meet the varying medical, physical, educational, and other needs of students.

Requirements:

  • Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent, plus basic first aid, supplemented by a Special Education Teaching Assistant certificate or equivalent training.
  • Two years prior related experience working with children or young adults with special needs, including behavioral disorders in an educational, institutional, group home setting or support worker capacity.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, maintain effective relationships with special needs students, and perform a variety of record-keeping tasks.
