Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Support Specialist to join our team at the Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese. As an Education Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our students, working collaboratively with our teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, providing individualized assistance to maximize participation and learning in an inclusive environment.
  • Assist teachers in designing and implementing individualized or group communication skills, behavioral support, learning support, life-skills, or work experience programs.
  • Collect and record data on student academic and behavioral performance, providing valuable insights to inform instruction.
  • Provide personal care and support as required, interacting with students in a professional and effective manner.
  • Participate in school-based team meetings and IEP meetings as required, contributing to the development of individualized education plans.
Requirements:
  • Background in special education support, with experience working collaboratively with teaching staff and other support personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proficiency with technology, including the use of educational software and digital tools.
  • Special Education and/or Education Assistant certification/diplomas are assets, with training and experience in personal care needs, ASD, CPI, and behavior management also highly valued.
