Job Description

The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Support Specialist to join our team. As an Education Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our students, working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements, to maximize their participation and learning in an inclusive environment.
  • Assist teachers in designing and implementing individualized or group communication skills, behavioral support, learning support, life-skills, or work experience programs.
  • Collect and record data, including observations and academic and behavioral performance, to inform instruction and support student progress.
  • Provide personal care as required, interacting with students in a professional and effective manner.
  • Participate in school-based team meetings and IEP meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • Background in special education support or a related field.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, other support staff, parents, and students.
  • Proficiency with technology, including SeeSaw and Google Classroom.
  • Training and experience with personal care needs, ASD, CPI, and behavior management are assets.
  • Special Education and/or Education Assistant certification/diplomas are required.
