Medical Devices Reprocessing Technician - Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital
This role involves the thorough decontamination, reprocessing, and sterilization of medical equipment, supplies, and instruments to ensure patient safety and care quality.
Key Responsibilities
Efficiently managing a diverse workload in a dynamic healthcare setting. Proactively addressing and resolving challenges in a constructive and respectful manner. Applying sound professional judgment while adhering to best practice protocols. Promoting a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by following patient and staff safety regulations.Required Qualifications
Completion of Secondary School or equivalent. Successful graduation from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician Program (or equivalent). A minimum of two years' experience with complex surgical instruments and operating room tools. Familiarity with Low Temperature Sterilization techniques. Proficient computer skills are essential. Strong understanding of Medical Terminology is necessary.Additional Skills and Attributes
Proven expertise in cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, testing, packaging, and sterilizing instruments, as well as high-level disinfection of endoscopes. Knowledge of cleaning and sterilization processes for respiratory equipment. Understanding of Infection Control practices and Aseptic principles. Capability to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Empathetic communication skills when interacting with colleagues and patients. Alignment with Mackenzie Health's values of Excellence, Leadership, and Empathy. Dedication to delivering an outstanding experience for both staff and clients in a challenging healthcare environment.Preferred Experience
Two years of relevant experience in Central Sterile/Sterile Processing preferred.*This position is represented by OPSEU.
*Flexibility to work at various sites within Mackenzie Health may be required.
