Job Overview

The Supervisor of Production plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing the manufacturing operations within our facility. This position requires effective management and documentation of manufacturing and packaging processes in compliance with cGMP, SOP, and BMR standards. The supervisor will lead Team Leads and Operators daily, ensuring that production targets are consistently achieved while maintaining compliance with all regulatory documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise daily and weekly manufacturing activities based on production schedules in designated areas.
  • Collaborate with fellow supervisors to coordinate work activities and establish priorities for the team to ensure timely task completion.
  • Develop and deliver training for employees on manufacturing-related SOPs.
  • Ensure adherence to batch records, SOPs, and protocols, meeting all quality specifications.
  • Oversee the execution of scale-up, exhibit, characterization, and validation batches, including cleaning verification and validation protocols.
  • Initiate investigations and change controls as necessary.
  • Utilize expertise to address both standard and non-standard challenges within the manufacturing environment.
  • Operate within budgetary constraints, applying knowledge of profit drivers to enhance work processes.
  • Resolve routine manufacturing issues using established procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and propose solutions that balance risk and operational excellence.
  • Build consensus on complex issues effectively.
  • Adhere to DEA Controlled Substance SOPs and report any violations to management.

Work Environment:

The role is situated in a manufacturing, production, or laboratory setting, which may involve exposure to:

  • Noise levels that may distract or pose a risk to hearing.
  • Fumes and vapors resulting from chemical reactions.
  • Unpleasant odors and airborne dust particles.
  • Potential hazards associated with moving machinery and exposure to various chemicals.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position include:

  • Regular use of hands for handling, talking, and hearing.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and various physical movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry items of significant weight.
  • Capability to navigate various work environments, including offices and production floors.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements, including respirators and safety goggles.

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel is expected for this role.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of granulation, blending, compression, and coating processes.
  • Willingness to work extended hours to meet production schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence in others.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cGMP, SOP, FDA guidelines, and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
  • Proficiency in English at an Intermediate-B1+ level is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is required.
  • Candidates with 2-3 years of experience and a Master’s degree in Science or Engineering will be considered.
