Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance and refine sand casting methodologies to comply with stringent aerospace industry quality and performance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams to create and develop casting molds, cores, and tooling that adhere to aerospace specifications.
  • Establish comprehensive quality control protocols to guarantee that the dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and mechanical properties of cast components align with aerospace requirements.
  • Identify and rectify casting defects and challenges, such as porosity and shrinkage, utilizing advanced metallurgical analysis and process improvement strategies.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement to boost casting efficiency, minimize waste, and shorten production timelines while upholding exceptional quality standards.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of casting processes, materials, and quality control practices. Generate technical reports for internal assessments and client approval.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure the smooth integration of casting processes into overall product development and production workflows.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in sand casting techniques, including green sand casting, resin sand casting, and investment casting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of aerospace materials, alloys, and specifications pertinent to casting processes.
  • Skilled in CAD/CAM software for tooling design and development.
  • Adept at analyzing complex casting defects and proposing viable solutions.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication capabilities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Educational Background and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace sand casting.
Physical Demands
  • Extended periods of standing and sitting while working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
