Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance and refine sand casting methodologies to comply with stringent aerospace industry benchmarks for quality and reliability.
  • Work in conjunction with engineering teams to create and develop casting molds, cores, and tooling that adhere to aerospace standards.
  • Establish comprehensive quality assurance protocols to guarantee that the dimensional precision, surface quality, and mechanical characteristics of cast components meet or surpass aerospace criteria.
  • Identify and rectify casting imperfections and challenges, such as porosity and shrinkage, utilizing advanced metallurgical assessments and process refinement strategies.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement to boost casting productivity, minimize waste, and shorten production timelines while upholding superior quality standards.
  • Keep meticulous records of casting operations, materials used, and quality assurance processes. Generate technical documentation for internal assessments and client validation.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, production, and quality control, to ensure the smooth integration of casting operations into the overall product development and manufacturing processes.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in sand casting methods, including green sand, resin sand, and investment casting.
  • Thorough understanding of aerospace materials, alloys, and specifications relevant to casting operations.
  • Skilled in CAD/CAM software for tooling design and development.
  • Adept at analyzing complex casting issues and proposing viable solutions.
  • Capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Familiar with industry standards and regulations governing aerospace manufacturing, such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
Educational Background and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace sand casting.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to spend extended periods standing or sitting while working on a computer.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
