Position OverviewThe Diabetes Nurse Educator plays a crucial role in providing family-centered care aligned with the mission and values of IWK Health Centre. This position involves collaborating with families to deliver safe, evidence-based prenatal care that is holistic and goal-oriented. The successful candidate will maintain current knowledge in educational practices and diabetes management, working within a multidisciplinary team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities- Apply the nursing process in delivering comprehensive care to families.
- Facilitate research initiatives and contribute to the professional growth of colleagues and healthcare students.
- Stay updated on best practices in diabetes education and prenatal care.
- Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing required; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.
- Certification as a Diabetes Educator or actively pursuing certification (to be completed within one year of hire).
- Current CPR Level-C Healthcare Provider certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in high-risk obstetrics.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work independently.
- Experience in prenatal education and care for families in high-risk situations is an asset.
