Your Opportunity:

Position Overview:

As a Fleet Safety Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our motor vehicle operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Incident Investigation: Act as the primary investigator for motor vehicle incidents, adhering to established safety standards. Collaborate with fleet supervisors across various zones to ensure accurate reporting of incidents.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Ensure that all incident reports meet the required standards. Present findings to the Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committee and report to relevant insurance entities.
  • Training Development: Identify opportunities for improvement in driver training programs and collaborate with the Learning and Development Team to create effective training modules.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Utilize techniques such as the 5 whys to determine the underlying causes of incidents and develop corrective actions accordingly.

Required Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Completion of the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) or equivalent.
  • An undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate in Safety, law enforcement, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Level 2 Collision Analyst Certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates should also have:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Alberta Traffic Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • A strong background in emergency vehicle operations, with at least 10 years of practical experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in safety-related roles within fleet operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Certification as a Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) or Defensive Driving Course (DDC) instructor.
  • Formal training in adult education or instruction.
  • Level 3 or 4 Collision Analyst Certification.
  • Experience in conducting motor vehicle incident investigations in a unionized environment.
