Position Overview

The Senior Communications Advisor plays a pivotal role within The Mullings Group's communications team, providing essential support to our operational and functional units to achieve strategic business goals.

Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this position embodies our value of Transparent Communication, facilitating effective engagement across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders. The Senior Advisor role demands a high level of confidentiality and flexibility, accommodating both routine tasks and urgent business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer strategic guidance and communication support to leaders and team members.
  • Design and implement strategies that align with The Mullings Group's business objectives.
  • Lead communication initiatives for operational divisions, focusing on engaging the frontline workforce.
  • Ensure communication services are aligned with corporate strategies and effectively meet organizational needs.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams to maintain consistency in messaging and utilize standardized tools and processes.
  • Act as an ambassador for the communication services model, brand, and processes.
  • Work with operational leaders to develop community engagement plans that enhance visibility in target regions.
  • Support the emergency response team by addressing emerging trends and preparing briefs for senior management.
  • Contribute to the formulation of risk management strategies and processes.
  • Assist with media relations and serve as a spokesperson when necessary.
  • Monitor public affairs trends to provide insights and recommendations for innovative practices.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and policies while performing duties.
  • Travel to various operational sites as required.

Qualifications

  • A degree or relevant post-secondary qualification in Communications or Public Relations.
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in communications, ideally within a corporate environment.
  • Proven experience as a trusted communication consultant for internal or external clients.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including strategic planning, writing, editing, and evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player skilled in engaging diverse interests.
  • Experience in managing communication challenges and reputational issues.
  • Training or experience in media relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead unstructured projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with SharePoint and photo editing software is a plus.
  • A background in change management is advantageous.
  • Experience in the forestry sector is a plus.
