POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Manager, this position is pivotal in delivering exceptional personalized dining experiences to all Aquarium visitors and internal stakeholders. In a dynamic, high-volume quick-service restaurant setting, the Food and Beverage Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations across all Food and Beverage venues. This role includes providing ongoing coaching and training to the team, maintaining a collaborative work environment, and ensuring that the team is equipped with the necessary resources for operational success. The Supervisor will promptly address all visitor and guest feedback and concerns, assign tasks, and follow up with the team as needed. Collaborating closely with our culinary team and other departments, the Food and Beverage Supervisor ensures that every visitor and guest enjoys a positive and memorable experience. Our Supervisors serve as representatives of the Vancouver Aquarium, acting as guides for our guests.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver outstanding visitor and guest experiences:

  • Foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere for every visitor, guest, and team member.
  • Ensure all team members have the necessary tools for operational success.
  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding updates or changes to menus, policies, and Aquarium news.
  • Uphold all standards established by the Aquarium.
  • Assist with general visitor inquiries about programs, events, and other Aquarium-related information.
  • Confidently discuss all food and beverage options and accommodate dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain a consistently positive demeanor in all situations.
  • Address and resolve all visitor and guest feedback promptly.
  • Embrace the motto: "if it is not right, we will make it right."
  • Anticipate the needs of visitors and guests.

Support daily operations of food outlets:

  • Oversee daily operations within the Food and Beverage venues.
  • Ensure all products served to visitors and guests meet exceptional quality standards.
  • Assist in staff training and development initiatives.
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching to the team.
  • Delegate and assign tasks as necessary.
  • Aid in daily financial reporting and communication.
  • Review daily schedules and role assignments, adjusting as needed.
  • Ensure all outlets are equipped with the necessary resources for operational success.
  • Champion all health and safety protocols.

Guarantee high-quality product experiences for all visitors:

  • Ensure all visitor and guest requests are fulfilled accurately before delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all satellite stations.
  • Ensure that cafes and surrounding areas are clean and orderly.
  • Implement proper rotation of all food and beverage items.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Serving It Right certification is mandatory.
  • Food Safe certification is preferred.
  • A clear background check is required.
  • Experience in food services within a high-volume, fast-paced environment is advantageous.
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills are essential.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter.
  • Ability to take initiative and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities are necessary.
  • Must be an organized leader who leads by example.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to safely lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Availability during weekdays, including weekends and holidays, is required.

COMPENSATION: $20 per hour
